WEB DESK: Former Pakistani diplomat Naeem Hassan, who served as the Secretary-General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) from 1996 to 1998, has passed away in Toronto while undergoing treatment at Oakville Memorial Hospital.
Naeem Hassan represented Pakistan as an ambassador to several countries, making significant contributions to Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
After retiring from diplomacy in 2001, he settled in Toronto, where he lived with his children in recent years.
His funeral prayer is scheduled to take place at the Asna Mosque in Mississauga, followed by his burial at Oakville Cemetery.
His passing is a loss not only to his family and friends but also to the diplomatic community and South Asian relations.
