Former U.S. President Joe Biden diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer

WEB DESK: Joe Biden, the 82-year-old former President of the United States, has been diagnosed with an aggressive prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones, according to a statement from his office.

Biden’s diagnosis was confirmed on Friday after doctors identified a prostate nodule during routine examinations, prompting further testing. The diagnosis was publicly announced on Sunday.

His medical team describes the cancer as hormone-sensitive, meaning it can be effectively managed with appropriate treatment, despite its aggressive nature.

Biden is currently reviewing treatment options with his healthcare providers. His office emphasized that he remains in good spirits and is committed to his health.

The news comes amid ongoing concerns about Biden’s health and age, which have been topics of debate among voters throughout his political career. These concerns played a significant role in his decision not to seek re-election in 2024.

Following a less-than-robust performance in the first presidential debate in June 2024, Biden announced he would not pursue a second term. The Democratic Party subsequently nominated Vice President Kamala Harris as their candidate. Harris ultimately lost the presidential race to Donald Trump.
