Four-nation foreign ministers meet in Islamabad to address Middle East tensions

ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting of foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt was held in Islamabad to discuss ways to ease the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.

During the talks, the four leaders reviewed the evolving situation in the region, focusing particularly on de-escalation and the prospects for a ceasefire. They emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement as the primary means to achieve lasting peace and stability.

Prior to the meeting, Ishaq Dar also held a telephonic conversation with Abbas Araghchi of Iran. Both leaders agreed that negotiations and diplomacy remain the most effective path toward sustainable peace.

According to Iranian officials, Pakistan strongly condemned Israeli and U.S. actions against Iran and reiterated its commitment to efforts aimed at halting the conflict. The discussion also included coordination regarding the four-nation initiative to promote peace in the region.
