BANNU: At least four police personnel were martyred in two separate shooting incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The attacks, carried out by unidentified assailants on motorcycles, have prompted intensified security operations across the region.
In Lakki Marwat, three officials of the traffic police were targeted while performing duty near Sarai Norang. According to police sources, armed attackers opened indiscriminate fire before fleeing the scene. The martyred officers were identified as Traffic Police In-charge Jalal Khan, Constable Azizullah, and Constable Abdullah.
Following the incident, police and rescue teams rushed to the location, sealed off the area, and transported the bodies to Naurang Hospital. A large police presence remains deployed in the vicinity as investigations continue.
,Meanwhile, a separate attack was reported in Bannu’s Qafshi Khel area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Mandan Police Station. In this incident, Police Constable Rashid Khan was shot and killed by unidentified motorcyclists in what authorities believe may be a related act of violence.
Security officials have termed the attacks as possibly coordinated and have launched wide-ranging search and combing operations in both districts. Surveillance footage is being reviewed, and intelligence-based efforts are underway to trace those responsible.
Law enforcement agencies have appealed to the public for cooperation and vigilance as the manhunt continues, reaffirming their commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
