LAHORE: Funeral rites for the mother of PTI leader and ex-provincial minister Mian Aslam Iqbal took place at Dongi Ground in Samanabad, Lahore.
Mian Aslam Iqbal was unable to attend the funeral prayer. The ceremony was led by renowned cleric Allama Tahir, with Maulana Asghar Arif Chishti offering the Dua.
The event saw participation from a wide array of Pakistani political figures and media personalities. Among the attendees were Mian Aslam Iqbal’s brother, Mian Amjad Iqbal; Mian Amer Mahmood, Chairman of Dunya Media Group; Federal Minister Awn Chaudhry; MNA Hafiz Nauman; Punjab Assembly member Farrukh Javed; Mian Ijaz Shafi; and ex-Punjab Health Minister Dr. Tahir Ali Javed.
Representing PTI, Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, along with MPA Sheikh Imtiaz, Ammar Dogar, Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, Brigadier (r) Mushtaq, Ali Imtiaz, and Ali Akbar, were in attendance. Other notable figures included PTI Religious Affairs Wing leader Maulana Asghar Arif Chishti, PTI NA-129 candidate Arsalan Chaudhry, along with PTI leaders Ali Ijaz Butt, Rizwan Goraya, Shabbir Gujar, and Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan.
Senior journalists Salman Ghani, Junaid Saleem, and Haroon Rafiq also participated, alongside PML-N leader Khawaja Ahmad Hassan and prominent business figure Shahid Kamboh.
Following the funeral prayer, attendees expressed their condolences to Mian Aslam Iqbal’s brother, Amjad Iqbal, and prayed for the departed soul’s forgiveness and eternal peace.
