RAWALPINDI: PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar on Tuesday revealed that Mahmood Achakzai has been designated as the opposition leader based on directives from the party’s founder.
In a media interaction today, Gohar stated that a formal application, signed by 74 MNAs, has been submitted to the National Assembly to support this appointment. He emphasized the importance of a meeting between Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, and the party’s founder, describing it as essential. “If the chief minister is unable to secure this meeting, he has the authority to proceed independently,” Gohar asserted.
Regarding upcoming electoral contests, Gohar confirmed that Omar Ayub’s wife will be the PTI candidate for the by-election in NA-18 Haripur, expressing confidence in a strong contest. He also mentioned that, according to the KP government, old and non-functional vehicles have been returned to the federal government.
Gohar stressed the importance of transparency and cooperation, calling for an end to restrictions on jail visits, recalling that during Nawaz Sharif’s imprisonment, meetings were regularly permitted. Responding to a question about terrorism, Gohar affirmed that no part of any country should be used as a base for terrorism within Pakistan.
