KARACHI: Gold prices posted a significant surge in Pakistan on Thursday, driven by a strong upswing in international bullion markets.

According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-karat gold jumped by Rs11,300 per tola, taking the new rate to Rs449,236.

The price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams increased by Rs9,688 to Rs385,147, while 22-karat gold per 10 grams gained Rs8,881, reaching Rs353,064.

Globally, gold prices also recorded a sharp rise, climbing $113 per ounce to $4,268, contributing to the increase in domestic rates.

Silver prices followed the same upward trend. In the local market, silver per tola rose by Rs35 to Rs6,659, while the price of 10 grams of silver increased by Rs30, reaching Rs5,709.
