Gold, silver prices surge to record highs in Pakistan

KARACHI: The prices of gold and silver soared to unprecedented levels after nine weeks, marking historic peaks across both global and local markets.

On Monday, gold prices experienced a sharp surge for the second consecutive session in both international and Pakistani markets, following a brief decline.

Data from the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA) reveals that 24-karat gold saw a remarkable increase of Rs6,200 per tola, reaching Rs462,362. This surge aligns with rising global demand from investors. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold climbed by Rs5,315, now valued at Rs396,400.

For 22-karat gold, the price per 10 grams rose by Rs4,872, settling at Rs363,379.

In the international market, gold witnessed an upward spike of $62 per ounce, closing at $4,400. This reflected robust global demand for precious metals amid economic uncertainties and fluctuating currency dynamics.

Silver also mirrored this trend. The price of 24-karat silver rose by Rs218 per tola to reach Rs7,205, while 10 grams of 24-karat silver saw a jump of Rs187, now priced at Rs6,177.
