Gold worth Rs300 million stolen in Karachi jewellery heist after wall breach

KARACHI: A massive theft, among the largest in Karachi’s history, took place as burglars broke through a jewellery shop wall, stealing gold worth Rs300 million. The culprits escaped with 606 tolas of gold and diamonds valued at Rs2.5 million.

The incident occurred at a jeweller in Iqbal Market, Orangi Town, with shop owner Ayub Khan reporting the Rs300 million burglary. Workers discovered the theft on February 14, finding empty boxes and a broken rear wall. Stolen items included 7,064 grams of custom-made gold ornaments, diamonds, and other valuables.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar demanded a report from the SSP West and ordered teams to arrest the culprits and recover the stolen items. He also emphasized enhancing security at jewellery markets and commercial hubs, promising strict action against the offenders.
