RAWALPINDI: The government has announced plans to introduce new banknotes, with a dedicated committee established to oversee the design process.
In a recent session of the Federal Cabinet led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Ministry of Finance provided an update on the development of new currency notes issued by the State Bank.
The cabinet approved the formation of a specialized committee to evaluate and approve the new designs. It was stated that these banknotes are being crafted to align with modern standards and technological advancements. To ensure high-quality design, international experts have been brought in to provide their expertise.
The upcoming currency notes will include denominations of 100, 500, 1000, and 5000 rupees, featuring advanced security features such as improved security threads for enhanced protection. The new designs aim to showcase Pakistan’s rich regional and geographical diversity, alongside prominent historical sites.
Furthermore, the briefings revealed that themes emphasizing women’s role in the country’s development, as well as environmental concerns like climate change, will be integrated into the new notes. This approach aims to highlight important social issues and cultural values pertinent to Pakistan.
