The outgoing President of Azad Kashmir paid a farewell meeting to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who lauded Sardar Yaqoob for carrying out his state matters meticulously. The prime minister said that the continuation of electoral process strengthened the democratic system.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reiterated the determination that the government will continue political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiris. He also appealed the international community to take notice of Indian atrocities on unarmed Kashmiris.
The Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly is electing the new president today for which polling is underway. Former diplomat Masood Ahmad Khan is PMLN’s candidate while Lateef Akbar is the presidential candidate of Peoples Party.
