CM Sindh Shows Reservations On Bhasha Dam Location

Karachi (September 11, 2018): Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and cabinet members on Tuesday visited the mausoleum of the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, on his 70th anniversary, which is being observed today. They laid floral wreath and offered Fateha.

Later, talking to media Governor Sindh Imran Ismail said that the philosophy of Quaid-e-Azam is the beacon for the nation.

He said that all federal government projects in the province will be completed with the cooperation of Sindh government.

Speaking to the media on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s 70th death anniversary, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Tuesday vowed to curb street crime just like “terrorism was eliminated” from the metropolis.

“Incidents of street crime have increased in the metropolis in the last few months but we are working towards a policy to eradicate crime in the city.”

“Just as we have successfully curbed terrorism in the city, we will control crime,” Shah added.Further, chief minister Sindh clarified that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had proposed the construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam and they do not have any issue with it.

“We are not opposing the construction of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam, we are just they are facing technical issues,” he said without delving into details regarding the technical issues.

He said Sindh has objection over the location of the Bhasha Dam, building a dam by stopping water towards delta will be harmful.

When asked about the Baldia Town factory fire case that has yet to reach a conclusion, Shah said there is still development taking place in the case.“Criminals will be brought to justice,” he added.

He said that society will be peaceful by following the theory of Quaid-e-Azam.

Moreover, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail who was also present at Quaid’s mausoleum to pay respects said, there are 5000 dams in China, 2000 in India whereas Pakistan has just 154 dams.

He added, “Out of these 154 dams, there are only two big dams.”Further, he said, “The water issue is not just an issue of one city but it is an issue for the entire country.”

He also appealed to the Sindh government to support the dam fund as much as possible.

Several public and private organizations and educational institutions are holding ceremonies to highlight different aspects of the life of Quaid-e-Azam.

The nation pledges to follow his golden principles of “unity, faith and discipline”. Quran Khawani and Fateha will be offered at the Quaid’s mausoleum, while people from various walks of life will visit the mausoleum to lay floral wreath.

Quaid-e-Azam was born on December 25, 1876 in Karachi and left this world on September 11, 1948.

He received early education in Karachi and then went to London for higher education. He got his law degree in 1896, returned home and begun his legal career.He got elected to Legislative Assembly in 1909 and begun his political career joining Muslim League in 1906. He remained a member of Congress for many years while also being associated with the Muslim League.

The father of the nation passed away on September 11, 1948.
