ISLAMABAD: The government has officially declared an increase in the prices of petroleum products. According to the issued notification, the price of diesel has been raised by 7 rupees and 15 paise per liter, while the price of petrol has gone up by 4 rupees and 93 paise per liter.
As per the notification, the new petrol price is set at 320.73 rupees per liter, and the revised diesel price is 367.21 rupees per liter. These new rates will be effective starting July 22.
Additionally, the price of kerosene oil has been increased by 6 rupees and 78 paise per liter, bringing its new price to 289.37 rupees per liter.
It is important to note that the Petroleum Pumps Association has announced that petrol stations across the country will be shut down starting tomorrow. In a video statement, Nauman Ali Butt, Secretary-General of the All Pakistan Petroleum Pumps Association, mentioned that negotiations with the Ministry of Petroleum had failed.
He stated that daily adjustments in petroleum prices are unacceptable and rejected the government’s proposed daily pricing mechanism. Following the breakdown of talks, petrol pumps nationwide will remain closed indefinitely from 12 midnight tonight.
