Govt assures IMF not to give subsidy on electricity and gas

Islamabad: Federal government has assured the International Monetary Fund (IMF) it will not give any subsidy on electricity and gas.

Pakistan has a circular debt of a whopping amount of Rs 4881 billion in the electricity and gas sectors.

Similarly, provincial governments of the four provinces will also not give any subsidy on gas and electricity as well.

On the other hand a notification of an increase in gas tariff will be issued on February 15, 2025.

Whereas the supply of gas to Capto power plant will be closed from January 2025.
