ISLAMABAD: Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, announced that over 75,000 students have benefited from Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal’s Individual Financial Assistance (Education) Program since its inception in 2004, with total expenditures surpassing two billion rupees.
During his visit to the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Islamabad, he addressed the media, emphasizing the transparency, disbursement process, and impact of the scholarships offered through Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.
The Minister shared that between July 2024 and June 2025, more than 290 million rupees were allocated to support 8,059 students. Similarly, from July 2025 to February 2026, over 200 million rupees were distributed among 5,519 students, highlighting ongoing commitment to student welfare.
He also announced an increase in the annual financial aid cap from 100,000 to 150,000 rupees per student, ensuring that deserving students can pursue their education without financial obstacles.
Providing institution-specific data, Shah noted that from 2008 to 2026, approximately 6,739 students at NUML Islamabad received financial aid totaling around 240 million rupees through Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.
Reflecting on current year support, he stated that 171 students have so far received financial aid worth nearly 9 million rupees for 2025-26, demonstrating the continuous nature of the assistance.
Additionally, the Minister highlighted the Medical Assistance Programme under Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, which supports students with serious illnesses who cannot afford treatment. The assistance ceiling for medical aid has been raised from one million to 1.5 million rupees per patient to facilitate timely and effective healthcare for eligible students.
