Govt pledges protection of rights, dignity of visually impaired: President, PM

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed the government’s resolve to ensure respect, protection, and meaningful inclusion of people with visual impairments in society.

In separate messages issued on the occasion of World Braille Day, being observed today, both leaders emphasized the state’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for persons with disabilities.

President Zardari stated that Pakistan remains steadfast in fulfilling its obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, aiming to build an inclusive and fair society for all.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government is determined to safeguard the rights of special persons, including those with visual impairments. He called upon educational institutions, civil society organizations, the private sector, and the media to work together more closely to promote Braille education and literacy across the country.
