Govt Rebuffs Impression Change in Khatm-e-Nabuwat Provision

Islamabad (October 3, 2017): Minister for Law Zahid Hamid informed the National Assembly on Tuesday  that the provision regarding finality of the Prophethood has not been omitted from the Election Bill 2017 as any ambiguity, if appeared, will be removed immediately.

Speaking on a point of clarification about misinformation on the social media, he said that the government cannot even think of deleting this provision.

Later, talking to media outside the parliament, he said only the oath taking form for the candidate has been made simple, but the provision regarding Khatm-e-Nabuwat has not been changed at all.

Regarding another point, the Law Minister said the Election Bill 2017 has not been passed in isolation. He also rejected the impression that the bill has been passed to benefit a specific person.

Minister mentioned that PPP has opposed the bill in senate, notwithstanding Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had himself include the amendment in constitution in 1975.

Deputy speaker said the campaign launched on social media regarding scarping of Khatm-e-Nabowat clause has created apprehension among the people.

“However no compromise will be made over the issue in the parliament,” he said.

Taking part in discussion, JI Sahibzada Tariqullah said that the word declare, in nomination paper, should be replaced the word oath.

On which federal minister for housing Akram Duraani told that government will form committee of legal expert and than any step will be raised.

PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said it was a sensitive issue and will be taken seriously.“PTI has consulted legal experts and Ulema being consulted,” he said.

PML-N Abdul Manan said his party will never make any compromise on the issue and if any objection raises regarding bill the government will make change accordingly.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmed  informed the National Assembly that directions are being sent to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to restore internet service in Balochistan.

He was responding to a Call Attention Notice moved by Naseema Hafeez Panezai and others regarding closure of internet services in districts Killa Abdullah, Pishin, Kech, Panjgur, Dalbandin and Kharan due to security concerns.

The Minister said the facility should be restored as security situation has improved in the province.

During the session the journalists walked out over the attack on senior anchor person mateeullah, however government ensured them action and will appoint focal person in this connection.

The session prorogue till Wednesday.
