ISLAMABAD: The government has recovered over 541 billion rupees from corrupt people and efforts are being made to bring back billions of looted money laundered abroad.
This was stated by Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain along with Adviser on Accountability and Interior Mirza Shahzad Akbar while talking to media in Islamabad on Thursday evening.
He said the government has constituted an inquiry commission to probe the Broadsheet matter and will take due action according to its findings.
Speaking on the occasion, Mirza Shahzad Akbar said the government has retrieved over 8,700 kanals of state land worth 200 billions from land grabbers, mostly politicians, in Punjab. He said the land was occupied by different politicians or by land mafia with the support of corrupt elements.
