Govtt is fully committed to enhancing the electricity transmission system, PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the electricity transmission system.

While presiding over a meeting of the Working Group on the Power Sector in Islamabad, he stated that efforts are underway to ensure industries are supplied with electricity at rates that are competitive within the region.

He acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the Energy Committee, led by Shehzad Saleem, for engaging with the private sector to address energy-related concerns.

The meeting included a presentation of recommendations focused on reforms within the energy sector aimed at driving economic growth.

The Prime Minister instructed the Power Division to consult with stakeholders and propose measures to adjust electricity wheeling charges to a suitable level.

He also underscored that a comprehensive National Program for Economic Development would be formulated based on the finalized recommendations from various sectoral working groups.

Additionally, discussions during the meeting covered tariff structures, obstacles in electricity transmission, pricing strategies, and broader energy sector issues.

Suggestions were put forward to improve the reliability of both the transmission network and voltage systems.
