Karachi (December 19, 2017): Sindh High Court cancelled bail of former provincial Local Bodies minister Sharjeel Memon and others in a graft case pertaining to illegal appointment of 11,000 acres of land in Malir district here.
During the hearing of the bail application today the court said that Sharjeel Memon’s application for bail has turned ineffective because he has already been arrested in another NAB reference.
The NAB prosecutors informed the court that Supreme Court has also taken a suo moto notice of this scandal. When NAB prosecutors told the court that inquiry against Sharjeel and other co-accused has been completed the court asked them to inform about investigations thus far.
The court later extended the interim bail-before-arrest of other accused persons till January 30. It may be mentioned here that Sharjeel and eight other accused have filed bail applications.
It may also be mentioned here that on the 15th of this month the Supreme Court has called for a reply from the federal government. Justice Asif Saeed Khosa had commented during the hearing that “why is it that people get suddenly sick after getting arrested by NAB.”
