Grand independence day celebrations, Marka-e-Haq ceremony underway in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The central event commemorating Pakistan’s Independence Day and the Marka-e-Haq initiative is currently taking place at Jinnah Sports Stadium, with President Asif Ali Zardari serving as the chief guest. The occasion is attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, senior military leaders, and distinguished guests from both home and abroad.

The event features a vibrant military parade and an impressive air show, showcasing Pakistan’s defense capabilities. During the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to unveil the Marka-e-Haq Monument, symbolizing Pakistan’s triumph over India in the May conflict.At the Shakarparian Parade Ground, spectators can view a display of combat aircraft, tanks, artillery, radars, and other military equipment used during the war, highlighting the nation’s resilience and military strength.

Earlier, the National Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution honoring the sacrifices of martyrs and reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering commitment to preserving Pakistan’s sovereignty and independence at all costs.Across the country, Independence Day celebrations are vibrant and widespread. Streets, neighborhoods, and cities are decorated in the national colors of green and white. In Punjab, festivities are underway in Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Jhang, Narowal, and other urban centers.

In Sindh, commemorative events are being held in Sukkur, Hyderabad, Jacobabad, Thatta, and Badin, while in Balochistan, rallies have taken place in Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Sibi, Bolan, Sohbatpur, Lehri, Gwadar, and additional towns.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa observed a special celebration for minority communities at the Mardan Commissioner’s Office, with preparations reaching their peak in Karak. Meanwhile, Azad Kashmir saw colorful functions at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Muzaffarabad, along with a ‘Martyrs’ Honour March’ in Mirpur, paying tribute to those who laid down their lives for the nation.

The nationwide festivities reflect Pakistan’s patriotic spirit, unity, and resilience as the country celebrates its independence.
