Green Shirts not intimidated despite South Africa’s strong home record.

WEB DESK: Captain Pakistan’s national cricket team Muhammad Rizwan has said that Green Shirts not intimidated despite South Africa’s impressive home record.

Talking to the media outside Kingsmead Cricket Stadium in Durban, Mohammad Rizwan acknowledged the challenges posed by the unfamiliar conditions in South Africa, he noted that the pitch and weather in the country are vastly different from those in Pakistan, which can make playing in an away series more difficult. However, Rizwan emphasized that the team would not rely on their past successes against the Proteas, reiterating that the focus is entirely on the current challenge ahead.

He said that Pakistan begins their much-anticipated South Africa tour, which includes a three-match T20I series, followed by an ODI series of the same number of matches. The tour will conclude with two Test matches, the second of which is scheduled to end on January 7.

The series is expected to provide thrilling encounters, with Pakistan looking to repeat their success from 2021, when they won the T20I series 3-1. After a 1-1 draw in the first two T20Is at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, Pakistan clinched the series with wins in the final two matches at Centurion. Despite South Africa never having been a favorite destination for Pakistan, their last tour saw them defeat the hosts 2-1 in the ODI series, thanks to some stunning performances from Fakhar Zaman. Unfortunately, Zaman will be absent from this tour, as he has been ruled unfit for international action.
