Hadiqa Kiani Turns 44 Today!

Web Desk (August 11, 2018): Singing sensation of the country, Hadiqa Kiani is celebrating her 44th birthday today. Talented singer has sang songs in many languages including Urdu, Punjabi, Siraiki, Sindhi and Pashto.Pakistani singer, songwriter, and philanthropist, Hadiqa Kiani was born on August 11, 1974 in Rawalpindi, as the youngest of 3 siblings. Her father died when she was 3 years old.

Her mother, Khawar Kiani, who was a poet enlisted her in the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, witnessing her music ability. She used to perform in front of crowd of thousands of people, at the Liaqat Memorial Hall Pindi in various children music festivals, while receiving early education in music from her teacher, Madam Nargis Naheed.During her school life, Kiani represented Pakistan at international children festivals in Turkey, Jordan, Bulgaria, and Greece, winning various medals along the way and performing for thousands around the world.

She later moved to Lahore, where she got classically trained by Ustad Faiz Ahmed Khan (Late) and was also groomed by Wajid Ali Nashad (Late).She began to sing songs as a playback singer for movies in the early 90s and won many awards. Some of her most hit albums include Raaz, Roshni, Rung, Rough Cut and Aasmaan. Over the years, Kiani has provided vocals for a select list of TV Dramas.Kiani had appeared on the 5th season of Coke Studio, performing renditions of Bulleh Shah and Amir Khusro to positive reviews.

She was appointed as a United Nations Development Programme Goodwill ambassador, making her the first woman in Pakistan to a Goodwill ambassador to the United Nations.She has adopted a child as her son in 2005 from the Edhi Foundation after the 2005 earthquake. Later, she married a UK-based Pakistani businessman, Syed Fareed Sarwary. In 2008, she divorced Sarwary.

She has won numerous awards for her performances, including Nigar award and highest Pakistan Civilian Award ‘Tamgha-e-Imtiaz’, for her contributions to Pakistan music industry. While, she was also titled as one Pakistan’s ‘Most Powerful and Influential Women’ by the country’s leading news group.
