ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced the closure of Hajj 2026 applications, citing an “overwhelming response” from the public.
Total of 118,060 applications were submitted under the government-sponsored Hajj scheme within just 17 days of opening.
This year, applications were accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through both online platforms and designated banks. Due to the high volume of interest, the available quota was filled much earlier than in previous years.
Pilgrims applied for both short and long-duration packages, with the government requiring half of the total cost as an initial payment. The second installment will be collected later, closer to the departure dates.
According to ministry sources, no further applications will be entertained, and the selection process is now underway. Successful applicants will receive further instructions in the coming weeks.
The early closure of the application window means preparations for Hajj 2026 will proceed ahead of schedule, allowing the ministry to focus on logistical and administrative arrangements in a timely manner.
