GAZA: The Palestinian resistance organization Hamas has officially confirmed the martyrdom of Abu Ubaida, the spokesperson for its military wing, Al-Qassam Brigades.
In a recent video message, the new Al-Qassam Brigades spokesperson verified the deaths of Abu Ubaida and other senior commanders. The statement also paid tribute to several prominent Al-Qassam leaders, including Mohammed al-Sanwar, Raed Saad, Mohammed Shbanah, and Hakim al-‘Isa, who were killed in Israeli strikes.
The spokesperson revealed that Abu Ubaida was born Hazimah al-Kahlut, and confirmed that after the martyrdom of Mohammed al-Dayf, Yihya al-Sanwar’s brother, Mohammed al-Sanwar, assumed leadership of the group.
Hazimah al-Kahlut previously led Al-Qassam’s media division, ‘Al-‘Ilam al-‘Askari’ (Military Media), and had served as the group’s spokesperson for over two decades. Under his guidance, the media operations of Al-Qassam were modernized and streamlined.
The last known video of Hazimah al-Kahlut was released in early September, around the same time Israel claimed to have targeted and killed Abu Ubaida.
