GAZA: Hamas has released American-born Israeli soldier Aidan Alexander.
According to Arab media, Aidan was handed over to a team from the International Red Cross in Khan Younis.Confirming the release, U.S. President Donald Trump described it as a “gesture of goodwill” and credited the successful mediation to efforts by Qatar and Egypt. Trump further emphasized the need to end the war and return all living hostages to their loved ones.Hamas had taken Aidan Alexander hostage during the October 7, 2023, attack. On the previous day, Hamas expressed willingness to release him.
According to international media, negotiations took place between Hamas and the United States regarding a ceasefire, following which Hamas agreed to release the American hostage in Gaza—believed to be the last American citizen held in the region.
In this regard, Hamas leader Dr. Khalil al-Hayya stated that Hamas had agreed to the release of the American prisoner and also supported the opening of humanitarian corridors.Meanwhile, Israel has expressed reservations over the Hamas-U.S. negotiations.
