ISLAMABAD: Hanif Abbasi has stated that Imran Khan and Jemima Goldsmith’s children will be regarded as “foreigners” when they visit Pakistan, and they will not be permitted to instigate chaos or engage in politics within the country.
The Minister of Railways emphasized: “Pakistani law prohibits foreigners from leading political movements on Pakistani soil. There is a clear distinction between foreigners and overseas Pakistanis. I believe Jemima will not permit her children to visit Pakistan. They are welcome to visit, but only under the same conditions and restrictions applied to foreign nationals. Pakistan is progressing rapidly and making a notable impact after recent successes, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. We will not allow anyone to create disorder or unrest under any pretext. The fact that PTI expects Khan’s sons to return and lead the movement indicates that PTI’s efforts have failed.”
Abbasi also dismissed any rumors of a deal involving Imran Khan, asserting: “He remains frustrated in jail. He clashes daily with the prison staff, and has lost the trust of the state after allegedly conspiring against it.”
He distanced himself from certain PML-N leaders who claimed Khan was facing imprisonment bravely, saying: “I disagree. Those comments are made for ratings. Imran Khan has no choice but to be in his current situation. He is there against his will. He desperately seeks a deal to get out, but no such agreement exists.”
Last week, Aleema Khan, Imran Khan’s sister, told reporters in Rawalpindi that her sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, planned to travel from the UK to the US before eventually returning to Pakistan to participate in PTI’s protests against the government.
“First, they are going to America, telling their friends they will inform the US administration about the human rights issues and the injustice their father has faced in Pakistan,” Aleema explained. “Secondly, Sulaiman and Kasim have stated they will come to Pakistan afterward to support the protest movement.”
Jemima Goldsmith strongly condemned the Pakistani government’s threats to prevent her sons from contacting their father, who has been imprisoned for nearly two years. She took to X, saying: “My children aren’t allowed to speak to Imran Khan over the phone. He has been kept in solitary confinement for almost two years. Now, the government says if they come to meet him, they too will be detained. This isn’t democracy or a functioning state. It’s personal revenge, not politics.”
Kasim Khan also expressed his concern about Imran’s health on his X account, stating: “My father, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has now spent over 700 days in prison—locked in solitary confinement. He’s denied access to his lawyers, visits from family, and even his personal doctor. This is not justice; it’s an intentional attempt to isolate and weaken a man who stands for the rule of law, democracy, and Pakistan.”
