WEB DESK: The ninth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League is currently underway, and Harbhajan Singh, leading the Aspin Stallions, recently became the center of online attention after being spotted shaking hands with Pakistan cricketer Shahnawaz Dahani during his team’s match against the Northern Warriors.
In that match, Harbhajan’s side fell short by just four runs. Singh, who was on strike in the final moments, could not secure victory for his team. Following the game, Harbhajan was seen exchanging a handshake with Dahani in the customary post-match ritual. Dahani made his international debut for Pakistan in 2022.
Harbhajan has previously been outspoken about his position to boycott Pakistan and even criticized the BCCI for permitting the Indian cricket team to play against Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2025.
However, Singh’s recent gesture has drawn significant backlash, with fans accusing him of hypocrisy and straying from his earlier stance. The former Indian spinner now faces widespread criticism for disregarding India’s no-handshake policy.
For context, during the Asia Cup 2025, India faced Pakistan three times and adhered strictly to the no-handshake protocol after each match. This practice was later maintained in the Women’s World Cup 2025 as well.
