Hassan to Appear Before JIT Today for Second Time

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s younger son Hassan Nawaz will appear before the joint investigation team (JIT) probing Prime Minister’s family offshore business dealings for the second time today.

Earlier the JIT had summoned Hassan on June 9 and Hussain on June 10. However, the schedule was changed and now Hassan will appear before the team today and Hussain tomorrow.

The meeting of the JIT will start at 11:00 am today at Federal Judicial Academy. The JIT headed by Wajid Zia will question Hassan Nawaz regarding the family’s properties abroad.

 Hassan had earlier appeared before the JIT on June 2 and was grilled for over seven hours by the JIT.

Hussain Nawaz will appear before the team tomorrow for fifth times.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court special bench overseeing the JIT’s probe had expressed satisfaction with the progress of the investigation after the JIT submitted its second fortnightly progress report.

The JIT, formed on May 6, has 60 days to complete its probe and submit its final report to the Supreme Court.

Hassan Nawaz, the younger son of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, appeared before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for the second time to record his statement here.

Strict security arrangements were adopted at the Federal Judicial Academy, the secretariat of the JIT.

Hassan was accompanied by Special Secretary to PM Asif Kirmani.

Hussain Nawaz will appear before the JIT for fifth time on Friday, June 09, while it’s Hassan Nawaz’s second appearance.

Yesterday, JIT submitted its second report in Supreme Court of Pakistan after reviewing which the top court remarked that the probe into Panama Papers case against Sharif family is heading in the right direction.
