WEB DESK: Karachi and various parts of the country are experiencing intense heat, with forecasts indicating that many areas will remain hot and dry in the coming days.
According to the Meteorological Department, today marks the third day of the heatwave in Karachi, with temperatures expected to rise to 41 degrees Celsius. This heat wave is likely to persist until April 23.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature recorded in the city was 40.7 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature today was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius. Currently, the temperature stands at 28 degrees Celsius.
In the provincial capital, the minimum temperature is expected to be 24 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 38 degrees Celsius, and the current temperature recorded in the city is 29 degrees Celsius.
Weather forecasters indicated that the humidity level in the air has reached 36 percent, and there are no prospects of rain in the city. The intensity of the heat may increase further in the coming days.
The Meteorological Department has mentioned that some areas in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may experience rain. Meanwhile, it is predicted that most parts of Balochistan will experience hot and dry weather, with dusty winds as well.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for a severe heatwave across the country from today until April 27.
