Heatwave expected to persist nationwide through June 12

WEB DESK: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert indicating that most regions across the country are expected to endure extremely hot and dry conditions until June 12.

According to the Meteorological Department, most regions of the country are expected to experience extremely hot and dry weather, with the threat of heatwaves remaining persistent. Especially in Islamabad and its surrounding areas, an increase in temperature is anticipated.

The report states that the majority of areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan are likely to remain hot and dry, with severe heatwave conditions possibly affecting most districts in Sindh.

In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, the weather will remain hot, with the possibility of light showers accompanied by thunder.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert indicating that the risk of heatwaves will continue until June 12, as the pressure of the winds increased across the country starting from June 7. The effects of this pressure began to be noticeable from June 8 and have now affected most parts of the country.

According to the department, due to this wind pressure, upper regions including Central Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to experience daytime temperatures 5 to 7 degrees Celsius higher than usual.

Weather forecasters have advised citizens to take precautions to avoid heatstroke and dehydration, emphasizing the importance of staying hydrated and taking measures to protect themselves from the heat.
