According to the detail, The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued a crucial warning to the public regarding ongoing scams involving impersonators and fraudulent websites designed to steal sensitive information.In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), HEC shared a short video and emphasized: “Public Notice: Scammers are impersonating HEC and operating fake websites to deceive individuals. HEC does not request OTPs, passwords, or banking details. If you encounter any suspicious activity, please report it immediately.”

The video clarified that HEC does not contact students or the public for payment attestation or any banking-related verification. It also stressed that the department will never ask for confidential information over the phone or through unofficial online channels.Citizens are advised to remain vigilant against scam calls and fraudulent websites. The HEC emphasized the importance of safeguarding personal and banking information and urged the public not to share such details with unknown or suspicious sources.

The commission reaffirmed that its official website is the sole source of verified information and updates. To report any suspicious activity, individuals should contact the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) helpline and the National Response Centre for Cyber Crime.

“Stay alert, verify sources, and protect your personal information,” the HEC concluded in the advisory.
