BEIRUT/JERUSALEM: Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement fired heavy rocket barrages at Israel on Sunday.
Atleast 29 people in Beirut the day before and houses had been destroyed or set alight near Tel Aviv, said Israeli military.
Israel has also targeted the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs of Beirut, with an escalation in bombardment over the past two weeks.
This increase in military action comes alongside indications of progress in ceasefire negotiations led by the United States.
Hezbollah, having previously pledged to retaliate against assaults on Beirut by striking Tel Aviv, announced that it has successfully targeted two military sites in Tel Aviv and the surrounding areas with precision missiles.
Police said there were multiple impact sites in the area of Petah Tikvah, on the eastern side of Tel Aviv, and that several people had minor injuries.
Notably, Israeli forces also carried out fresh attacks on the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, a day after an assault that killed two people and wounded over a dozen medical staff, including the director of the besieged facility.
The situation in Gaza has resulted in a devastating loss of life, with reports indicating that at least 44,211 Palestinians have been killed and over 104,567 wounded since October 7, 2023
In Lebanon, at least 3,754 people have been killed and 15,626 wounded in Israeli attacks since the war on Gaza began.
