KARACHI: Renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani has described the temporary ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan during the Eid period as a positive and encouraging development, urging both sides to use this opportunity to seek a lasting resolution.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed hope that the pause in hostilities would not remain short-lived, but instead serve as a foundation for sincere dialogue. He emphasized that if both parties act with honesty, uphold justice, and adhere to Islamic principles, the conflict is not beyond resolution.
Mufti Usmani further prayed that this ceasefire could evolve into a permanent peace agreement, bringing an end to years of bloodshed. He highlighted the tragic loss of innocent Muslim lives on both sides and called for mutual understanding and cooperation to prevent further suffering.
The statement comes amid ongoing tensions, with many viewing the Eid ceasefire as a rare but valuable chance to move toward stability in the region.
