Hot and dry weather expected during Eid holidays across most of the parts

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the upcoming Eid ul Adha holidays will be marked by very hot and dry weather in most plain areas of the country.

The four-day Eid holidays, announced by the federal government from June 6 to 9, are expected to coincide with intense summer temperatures.

According to the PMD statement issued on Tuesday, parts of northern Pakistan—including Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, and surrounding regions—are likely to experience rain, thunderstorms, dust storms, and even hailstorms from June 2 to 5, with some intervals of clear weather.

The weather forecast indicates that moist currents are penetrating the northeastern parts of the country, while a western wave is approaching from the west. Under the influence of these systems, several areas could witness dust storms, thunderstorms, isolated heavy rainfall, and hailstorms, particularly in regions such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh.

Similarly, weather disturbances are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, as well as tribal districts such as Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu, Karak, and Waziristan.

The PMD has also forecasted a dust storm in southern Punjab during this period, alongside rain and thunderstorms in Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, and Mansehra, which may bring relief from the heat but could also disrupt travel and outdoor activities during the Eid celebrations.
