KARACHI: Pakistan’s superstar Mahira Khan recently revealed that she often goes shopping in the bustling markets of Karachi and Lahore, fully covered in a burqa, yet people still manage to recognize her.
Speaking at the 17th International Urdu Conference at the Arts Council in Karachi, Mahira shared a lighthearted anecdote about her shopping experiences in the markets of these two cities.
The actress explained, “I was telling my manager that you never take me to places like Lighthouse. I’ve heard they have amazing things there, and I ask them to take me while I’m wearing a burqa.”
She continued, “The issue is that every time I go to the markets in Karachi and Lahore in a burqa, people still recognize me by my voice. I can’t be silent but speak, otherwise, it wouldn’t be fun!”
Mahira laughed as she added, “I was covered head to toe in a burqa, but people still recognize my voice and ask, ‘Are you Mahira Khan?’ I just deny it and say, ‘No, I’m not Mahira.’
