Peshawar: A husband on directions of a faith healer in Peshawar has hammered a nail into the head of a pregnant woman, on husband desired that she must give birth to a male offspring.
The woman was moved to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital, where she told the doctors that the nail was lodged into her head due to “an accident.”
LRH resident Neurosurgeon Dr Haider Suleman on Tuesday told reporters that the woman was brought to the hospital a few days ago, with blood oozing from her head.
Images and X-ray film shared by the surgeon showed a steel nail lodged into the woman’s head just above the forehead. It had been completely hammered in and only the cap was left outside.
When doctors pressed the woman to tell the truth, she revealed that a faith healer was behind the episode.
She said she was three months pregnant and her husband did not like daughters and wanted her to give birth to a boy.
The relatives of the woman took her home after the surgery.
