ICC ODI Rankings: Kohli, Bumrah Retain Top Slots

Dubai (October 09, 2018): India skipper Virat Kohli and his teammate Jasprit Bumrah maintained their top spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batsmen and bowlers respectively.

Kohli remained at the top slot in the batsman’s chart with 884 points and is followed by his deputy Rohit Sharma, who has 842 points. Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is placed fifth in the list carrying 802 points.

 Coming to the bowling rankings, pacer Bumrah has 797 points to his name and leads the list.

Rashid Khan’s brilliant display in the Asia Cup has made him the No.1 all-rounder. Meanwhile, in the team’s rankings, England topped the chart with 127 points, while India is placed second with 122 points.New Zealand (112 points), South Africa (110) and Pakistan (101) grabbed the third, fourth and fifth spot respectively.

Earlier on August 06, International Cricket Council had released list of test match rankings. Virat Kohli tops the list as best batsman in test rankings, after being on top of the list in ODI rankings.

ICC had released the ranking post first test match between England and India. According to this ranking, Indian captain Virat Kohli tops the list as best batsman in test match, after getting same title in ODI ranking. Virat Kohli scored 149 and 51 runs in first test match against England. Kohli’s thrashing performance moved Australian captain, Steve Smith from the top position after 32 months.

Virat Kohli has became the second Indian batsman to top the lists of test and ODI rankings, after Sachin Tendulkar. No other change has been witnessed in lists of top 10 bowlers and batsmen.No Pakistan player made to the top ten players of the latest rankings list. Azhar Ali is ranked on number 15 in the ranking of batsmen, while leg-spinner Yasir Shah is on 18th position in bowler’s ranking.

Joe Root is on 3rd position, while Kane Williamson and David Warner secured 4th and 5th positions in ranking on top batsmen. James Anderson tops the list of bowlers rankings, while Kagiso Rabada, Ravindra Jadeja, Vernon Philander and Ravichandran Ashwin are on 2nd-5th positions.
