WEB DESK: Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz is one of three exceptional players shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award.
Nawaz showcased remarkable all-round performances in white-ball cricket during Pakistan’s tri-series victory over Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe on home soil. He scored 104 runs in ODIs at a striking average of 52 and an impressive strike rate of 114.28, while also taking four wickets.
In T20Is, his contributions included 52 runs alongside an outstanding tally of 11 wickets at an average of just 12.72. His standout performance came in the final against Sri Lanka, where he delivered match-winning figures of 3-17, sealing the tri-series title and earning himself the Player of the Series accolade.
South African spinner Simon Harmer
Joining Nawaz on the nominations list is South African spinner Simon Harmer, who played a crucial role in South Africa’s historic 2-0 Test series triumph over India—their first in the Asian country in 25 years.
Harmer’s exceptional bowling spells saw him collect 17 wickets at a phenomenal average of 8.94 across the two Tests held in Kolkata and Guwahati. He secured eight wickets in the first Test and followed up with nine in the second, including a masterful 6/37.
His efforts handed South Africa a commanding 408-run victory in the second match, culminating in a series sweep and earning him the Player of the Series award.
