IG Sindh claims Karachi placed on 128 position with respect to crimes

Karachi: Inspector General Sindh (IG) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has claimed that Karachi has reached on 128 position with respect to crimes.

The IG Sindh was addressing the participants of a race which was held on occasion of paying homage to martyrs of Sindh police at Sea View.

Ghulam Nabi Memon said that August 4 is the day remembering the martyrs of the Sindh police.

He said that Karachi was placed at sixth position with respect to crime in the year 2013 and now the mega city has been placed on 128th position.

Yearly number of murders have reduced to less than 500 in the largest city of the country, he added.

He said that the Sindh government is bringing a safe city project in Karachi under which 1300 cameras will be installed across the city.

He said that through the safe city project surveillance and challan system will be improved further.

The IG Sindh claimed regarding the crime figures has come when the city is rampant of street crimes and robberies while killings during the resistance to robberies have become norm in the metropolis.

Just two days ago robbers looted a security van carrying the almost Rs 10 million in a broad day light near Godam Chowrangi, Korangi neighborhood of Karachi.

It is pertinent to mention here that there is SP office located on roundabout of the Godam Chowrangi which is also called brookes round about.
