ISLAMABAD: Justice Suman Rifat Imtiaz, who previously led the harassment committee at Islamabad High Court, has been removed from her role.
Following directives from Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar, Justice Imtiaz has been replaced by Justice Inam Amin Minhas as the head of the committee.
It is expected that official documentation will soon clarify the reasons behind Justice Imtiaz’s removal.
Justice Imtiaz had established the harassment committee after receiving a complaint from Advocate Imaan Mazari, which involved Justices Sardar Ijaz Iqbal Khan and Arbab Muhammad Tahir, of whom she was also a member. She issued a circular authorizing the committee’s formation. However, with the change in leadership, the three-judge panel has become ineffective, which has impacted its capacity to handle complaints concerning judicial conduct.
Earlier, Advocate Mazari lodged a complaint against Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar with the harassment committee, accusing him of misconduct and urging that the case be forwarded to the Supreme Judicial Council.
The complaint also involved a confrontation in the courtroom between Mazari and Chief Justice Dogar.
