Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has called a report from Inspector General (IG) police Islamabad over torturing senior journalist Mohsin Baig in police custody.
The IHC Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah on Friday (today) heard the petition pertaining to disposing of case against journalist Mohsin Baig.
Counsel of the petitioner, Sardar Lateef Khosa said that it is a matter of grief that even Prime Minister Imran Khan has indulged in the case adding that it is decided to take action against a judge under this court.
The CJ Athar Minallah remarked that you have filed the petition to dispose of the FIR adding that no anyone can file petition to dispose of the case except the accused.
The CJ suggested him (Lateef Khosa) “you can bring your petition with an amendment adding that the case can not be disposed of on the petition of third person.” The CJ said (we don’t know even the accused whether wanted disposing of the case or not.”
Sardar Lateef Khosa said that no one was being allowed to meet Mohsin Baig until yesterday adding that Mohsin Baig was tortured badly in the police station, when the court sent a bailiff ,he was not allowed to enter the police station.
The counsel said that as many as 10 to 15 people tortured Mohsin Baig in the room of the SHO.
The court called a report on a complaint of torture on the journalist while the CJ ordered the IG Islamabad to present report over torture on the journalist in the custody of the police until Monday.
The Court adjourned the hearing until February 21 (Monday).
