Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday declared a scheme of plots in the special sectors of capital Islamabad for judges, bureaucrats and officers as unconstitutional.
A divisional bench of the IHC headed by Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani announced the reserved verdict.
The verdict reads that the state land is not for elites of the society but for public interests.
The verdict reads that Islamabad sectors, F-12, G-12, F-14 and F-15 schemes are unconstitutional, illegal and against the public interests.
The verdict further reads that the state land is not for elite instead of belongs to the public interests adding that judges, bureaucrats, public office holders can not make a policy for their personnel interests.
The verdict clarified that the government employees housing authority can not make a scheme against the constitution.
The court ordered secretary housing to present the verdict in the cabinet within two weeks and expressed an expectation that the cabinet and Prime Minister will formulate policies in the public interest relating to the four sectors of the capital.
