IHC directs govt to resolve PTI’s Nov 24 protest issue by talking to PTI chairman

Islamabad:Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamir Farooq directed the government that the issue be resolved by talking to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar while adjourning the hearing on a petition filed to stop the PTI’s Nov 24 protest in Islamabad .

The written order of the hearing will be issued soon, the CJ said.

The IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq heard a petition seeking to stop the PTI protest in Islamabad, during which Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Islamabad IGP Ali Nasir Rizvi appeared before the court.

Rizwan Abbasi, the lawyer for the petitioner, Jinnah Super Traders Association President Asad Aziz, appeared in court.

The chief justice asked what’s the fault of the common citizen in view of the protest in the city.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi told the court that 32 people have been martyred in Kurram, and now FC is needed in KP and in Islamabad, while the prime minister of Belarus is also coming.

The day someone visits the country, a protest is also announced the same day, he said, adding that only containers are not placed, roads are blocked, and businesses and schools are also closed.

The Islamabad advocate general said the court should issue a notice to the PTI also and summon it.

The court, said it was his (Mohsin Naqvi) responsibility to maintain law and order, while Mohsin Naqvi said till date no application had been submitted.

The CJ IHC also said that placing containers and blocking internet is not the solution to the problem, which could be found by talking to the political party concerned.
He added that placing containers affects the entire city; more than 300 Afghans were arrested in the previous protest.

The CJ IHC remarked that the issue has to be resolved, adding that it was the job of the administration. “No one has contacted the administration about the protest. If they haven’t done so, you should do it and resolve this issue,” the judge remarked.

The CJ suggested holding another hearing on the matter and suggested finding a solution to the problem by talking to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar.
