ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday issued a two-page written order regarding acceptance of the appeals filed Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt. (retd) Muhammad Safdar in Avenfield property reference.
The short order stated that the instant appeals are allowed and the judgment dated 06-07-2018 is set aside to the extent of appellants, namely Maryam Safdar and Capt. (R) Muhammad Safdar.
It said the conviction awarded is set aside and appellants are acquitted of the charges against them in reference No.20/2017. The reason of this to be recorded later.
AC Verdict Of Avenfield Reference Declared Null and Void
Earlier in the day, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) declared the accountability court verdict in the avenfield against Maryam Nawaz and her husband of 2018 null and void and acquitted the both.
The division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani had reserved the judgment today after conclusion of arguments from the respondents of the case.
The accountability court has awarded as a whole eight years imprisonment to Maryam Nawaz and one year for her husband.
The court also acquitted both Maryam Nawaz and her husband capt (retd) Safdar.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president and daughter of three-time premier Nawaz Sharif, her husband capt (retd) Safdar had filed appeals in the IHC against the punishment in the avenfield reference.
Maryam Nawaz Talks To Media Outside IHC
Maryam Nawaz, taking to media outside the IHC after acquittal said that those who made case against us has failed.
Maryam Nawaz said that all her counsels in the case fought the case honestly.
The daughter of three time premier Nawaz Sharif, she claimed that Imran Khan was the beneficiary in the case and she knows the coaches of the game.
The PML-V vice-president said that she will hold a presser in a day or two.
She said that there was hue and cry over the Panama papers and his father and lifetime supremo of the PML-N had known the track had been set for the sentence.
Nawaz Sharif, his father and his aides had informed her that this is not a legal case while her father had said that he, his daughter and family will face the case.
She said that she wanted to see Imran Khan face now adding that the man who always did politics of false allegations what will be happened to him now.
Maryam said “I wanted to ask Imran Khan after (IHC verdict in her and husband favour) what he will do next.”
She said that Imran Khan has come to the politics with crutches.
The PML-N vice-president said that he will have to be answered why he levelled false allegation on her.
