IHC orders to remove Zartaj Gull name from ECL

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday ordered to remove parliamentary leader of Sunni Ittehad Council Zartaj Gull name from Exit Control List (ECL).

The IHC one member bench Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri heard the Zartaj Gull petition for removing her name from no fly list.

Assistant Attorney General and Zartaj Gull appeared before the court along with her counsel.

The First Information Report (FIR) report presented in the court as per the record Zartaj Gull has her name in two FIRs.

Justice Jahangiri, during course of the hearing asked that how much cases registered against Zartaj Gull.

On which, counsel Usma Tariq apprised that case number 567, 340 have been responded while today miscellaneous petition heard in an urgent while Zartaj Gull in both the cases are on bail.

Justice Jehangiri in his conversation with Assistant Attorney General said that the allegations are minor and all are bailable and you put her name on the ECL adding you don’t put terrorists on the ECL while MNAs are appearing before the court.

He said that he will call Inspector General of police (IG) to the court and ask when a political leader runs a rally and you put her name on the ECL.

The honorable judge went on to say that no case of any gang and terrorists come to him is there anyone to ask? adding that those who recommends names for putting names on the ECL also have fears.

The Judge said that we will call those persons in the court who approve putting names on the ECL for next time.

Justice Tariq Mahmood Jehangiri ordered the assistant attorney general to remove Zartaj Gull name from the ECL and present a report within a week.
