Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday ordered removal of President of National Bank Arif Usmani and Chairman National Bank Zubair Soomro with immediate effect.
Honorable Judge of the IHC Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani had reserved the verdict in the 11 various pleas against January 12, 2019 notification for appointment of President National Bank Arif Usmani on June 2.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani today announced the verdict and ordered to remove President of National Bank Arif Usmani and Chairman of the Bank Zubair Soomro from their posts.
Petitioners had challenged the notification of the appointment of President of the bank Arif Usmani dated January 12, 2019 while it was opined in the petitions that Arif Usmani appointment was not conducted as per the requirements of transparency.
The petitions against Chairman of National Bank of Pakistan Zubair Soomro argued that Zubair Soomro not fulfills the education and experience criteria required for the post.
The court said that detailed verdict will be issued later.
