Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday suspended the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) verdict regarding appointment of retired judges in the election tribunals.
Chief Justice (CJ) of the IHC Justice Amir Farooq heard the petition. Justice Amir Farooq pronounced the verdict and restored Justice Tariq Mahmood as an election tribunal judge.
During course of the hearing, the Member of National Assembly (NA) Anjum Aqeel confessed that he signed the affidavit submitted in the ECP without reading.
The CJ IHC issued a contempt of court notice to Anjum Aqeel.
The CJ remarked that which kind of sky had fallen that you issued ordinance overnight. The CJ went on to say let shut down the parliament and the President run the country from an ordinance.
He apprised that laws were taken from the UK while he questioned have you ever seen that ordinance has been past there.
He said that you people have built ordinance factory.
