Imaan Mazari’s Interim bail extended in Terrorism-Related case

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court has granted an extension to the interim bail of human rights activist Imaan Mazari, along with her husband Hadi Ali Chattha, advocate Mustafain Kazmi, and others, in connection with a case involving a physical altercation with Islamabad High Court Bar President Wajid Gilani.

According to reports from 24NewsHD, the court voiced its frustration over the police’s failure to submit the case records, which led to the decision to delay further proceedings. As a result, the court barred the arrest of the accused until October 16, allowing time for the investigation to progress. Presiding over the hearing was Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain, who adjourned the case until October 16, when the bail applications will be reconsidered.

The case against Imaan Mazari, Hadi Ali Chattha, and other individuals was registered at the Secretariat Police Station. In a separate legal matter at the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad, both Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha appeared before the court concerning a controversial tweet case. The hearing was overseen by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka.

During this session, it was noted that Hadi Ali Chattha had not secured legal representation, as no counsel appeared on his behalf. Chattha informed the court that he had been unable to find a lawyer to represent him.In response, the judge issued a letter to the Sessions Judge requesting the appointment of a state-appointed lawyer for Chattha. The hearing was subsequently adjourned until October 16.

This case, filed by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), involves allegations related to a provocative tweet made by either Imaan Mazari or Hadi Ali Chattha.
