Karachi: Chief Secretary Sindh Dr Muhammad Suhail Rajput today (Thursday) presided a vital meeting on second phase of local bodies elections in Karachi and Hyderabad.
Provincial Election Commissioner, Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh, Commissioner Karachi and other officers were in attendance.
Agenda
Security and others arrangements were reviewed for the second phase of local bodies elections in two major cities of the province, Karachi and Hyderabad.
Chief Secretary Sindh Directions
Chief Secretary Sindh said that Close Circuit Tv (CCTV) cameras will be installed at the sensitive polling stations.
While he directed the commissioner Karachi and Commissioner Hyderabad to ensure arrangements at the polling stations.
Dr Suhail Rajput apprised that the local government elections will be held on 4995 polling stations in Karachi. While in Hyderabad, the local bodies elections will be held in 3971 polling stations.
Provincial Election Commissioner Briefing
The provincial election commissioner briefing the meeting informed that the local government elections will be held in Karachi and Hyderabad on January 15.
He further apprised that 60,000 government employees will render services in the local bodies elections in Karachi and Hyderabad.
IG Sindh Briefing
The IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon breifing the meeting informed that a security plan for the local government elections have been prepared.
The IG Sindh apprised that as many as 38233 police personnel will be deployed on the occasion of the local government elections in Karachi.
On the other hand 24, 000 police personnel will render duties in Hyderabad.
